Module.8:7/11 Sat

Hello, everyone.
The GLTP (Global Leadership Training Program) is a program designed to help you learn leadership skills with your peers from around the world. Finally, we have come to the final session of the eight-part classes. (Well done, participants!) In this post, we’ll be sharing a report on the entire GLTP program from one of our participants, Mathew Caldito.

INTRODUCTION

Hello everyone! Thank you for checking this article! My name is Mathew Caldito. I am from the Philippines and I have been living in Japan since I moved here about 10 years ago. I study at a university close to the famous Mt. Fuji, Tsuru University and I am in my last year. I am from the 9th batch of the MEXT scholarship program, TOBITATE. I went to the US to study at UC Davis and also get some professional and working experience. The reason I chose UC Davis is that I can learn entrepreneurship (more on that later), business-related courses, and most of all to deepen my understanding of my major, Linguistics.

Motivation

I have a vision, to create a community where every person helps each other, grows together, and give a beneficial impact on society. The reason I joined GLTP is mainly because of the startup that my friends and I established back when I was living in the US. Our startup is dedicated to executing our vision and touch as many people’s lives as we can for the better. Joining GLTP has been the greatest choice that I have ever made for our startup and myself. I joined GLTP with the hope to enhance my leadership skills, improve my vision, to broaden my perspective, and to share the knowledge I received in GLTP to my team. Moreover, I wanted to build my network with other global leaders around the world from different industries.

8th Session Review

The 8th session for me was one of my favorite topics because it taught us how to rethink or re-evaluate our purpose, in other words, our “why.” The main topic of the 8th session is about “purpose.” Together with the reading assignment and Mr. Ichiro Furuya’s speech about his journey, the class helped us how to think about our purpose and how to know if it is our real purpose. “Purpose” is one of the most important matters that all of us should know (This is the main purpose of our startup, to help people know their purpose). “Purpose” is the map of our life-journey and “vision” is our guide. The most important matter that I took away from the last session of the program is that no matter what purpose we have, or what leaders have, it all goes down to one outcome. And that is to “help and influence each other for the better world.” It is the sense of living for our precious lives.

Program Review

Global Leadership Training Program is one of the greatest training programs that I have ever participated in my entire life. GLTP provided us a platform to learn what leadership is and how to become the best leaders that we can be to lead the society and the world now and in the future. GLTP created a community of highly effective leaders to empower and drive positive change in the world. The GLTP team made a big impact not just in Japan but throughout the world. They are the leaders of the past and today, but they succeeded their leadership together with their knowledge to the leaders of tomorrow which would then be succeeded to the next generation. I am very thankful for the GLTP team for putting tons of effort, time, and dedication to making this program happen because the future is “us" and “we" create the future but without the GLTP team, it could be hard to create a better world with the best leaders. Lastly, my biggest take away from this program is that the best way to lead yourself to the vision you hold is to get help and lead other people and the best way to lead other people is to be the best leader that you can be.
